The website has been a hot mess for over a week AND we have some cool things coming up. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster here at oCo headquarters. We would have called you, but we were moody.
If you are new to the blog or read on a regular basis, you may have noticed that the site was down for maintenance, had images missing, was back in maintenance mode and now has images missing. Again.
We thought this was going to be the one thing that could send us over the edge. Our brain space and time was completely consumed by what was going on.
A little behind the scenes: We needed to make some adjustments to the structure of our site by a certain deadline (insert tech speak about hosting, web file management and primary domain rearrangement), so we contacted our hosting company. They are, in layman’s terms, the company that makes it possible for us to have a website online. It’s like owning property on the internet and they are our broker.
What was supposed to be a very simple adjustment turned into a total cluster. Our hosting company was scrambling to figure out what on earth had gone wrong on their end as we attempted to reset things on our end. Many hours were spent with tech support and, after meeting pretty much every person they have on payroll, we believe we’ll be invited to the next potluck at their office. Fingers crossed!
The whole process has been stressful. What do we do when we’re stressed? We organize. Well, we do that when we’re stressed, bored, happy, frustrated, etc, etc, etc. You get the point. This was our sign to get the website organized. It was becoming clear that all signs pointed to “get your crap in order, ladies.”
So we did… and we’re PUMPED about it!
In the coming months, you’ll start to see a different look on the site. We’re making things MUCH simpler for you. We preach the “quick, cheap and easy” which means we need to function in exactly that way. Always evolve, right?
Why are we telling you all this?
1. Because you’re our friend and we share everything with our friends.
2. Because we don’t want you to think that we are changing who we are – it’s just the look that’s becoming more simple.
3. Because we’re adding a “services” section which has been 100% by the request of readers of this blog!
4. Because you are the reason we are here. Without you, there’s no us.
Stay tuned and, as always, your thoughts and opinions are encouraged! Either comment on a post (including this one) or contact us via email.

I don’t read blogs, I read email.
Sound familiar?
I can’t find enough time during the day to hop around to different blogs to read updates. If I could, I would. I’m missing out on some really cool ideas, personalities, stories and inspiration.
I hate missing out!
Google reader has been available for some time. It allowed you to just log into your Google account and see all the blogs you follow. That service is no longer available after Monday (thanks for the reminder Mama Laughlin). See what you can learn from following blogs?
Have you heard of Bloglovin’? Cheesy name for a really cool and simple-to-use program. It’s a way to get updates from your favorite blogs in email form. Not a billion emails…just one.

Here’s what you do:
- Head on over to www.bloglovin.com
- Create an account for free
- Search for blogs you love (if you already know of some you like) such as organizedCHAOSonline. Just sayin’.
- Whenever you happen upon a blog you like, look for the “bloglovin” image or clickable link to add to your list (image can also look like this
and appear in a group of social icons like we have at the top right of the blog).
- Wait for your daily email and do literally nothing but read what they send you.
It’s so easy and you get just ONE email a day. Have I mentioned that, yet? No junk or overloaded inboxes, here.
If you are familiar with following blogs and you are one of those people who are freaking out a little about losing the blogs you already follow? Gimme Some Oven posted a detailed (and also simple) how-to list.
Now that you’re all set up, test it out by following us. If you don’t like it, you can unfollow.
Before you start reading, don’t get overwhelmed because you may not have heard about what we’re introducing. We hadn’t, either. In every way, we’ll break it down for you to show why we’re helping to make your life more efficient.
It’s called “following a blog”. What does that mean? It means that you get updates sent to you rather than you having to remember to go to them. Think of it like shipping. You’ve “ordered” updates of the blog and we “deliver” updates to your account. You check one account and you’re done.
We have just listed this blog on Bloglovin’. It’s a free and simple way to follow the blogs you love.
All you do is sign up and your blogs will land into one area. Easy peasy, right?

When Birds Attack
I’m so terrified of birds! My son and I went to lunch and the people behind us started feeding them. I about sh*t my pants. No, seriously. It was a close one. […read more]

20 Minute Spa Gift
This project is completely DIY and very inexpensive. It took around 20 minutes to put together.
Throw a bunch of these spa-like items in a basket or a bag with some accessories that make it look expensive and it’s a great hostess gift or quick go-to gift for an unexpected party or even bridal shower. […read more]

I’m in a Funk
This is a total Debbie Downer post but because we say we are “real,” we need to live up to it. We have a hard time believing someone when everything they do, say and express seems perfect or all put together. I guaran-freaking-tee that we are both a hot mess. The reason for this site is that we know how to pull it together in any situation or know someone who can help us do it. This is me, uncensored and looking for people who “get” me. […read more]
DIY State of Mind
Home is where the heart is. Literally and figuratively. Having moved a few times, all places feel like home and I wanted something to represent my different homes. Something simple, clean-looking and able to be duplicated. This canvas art is so ridiculously easy, I’m almost afraid to share it with you. […read more]
LEGO Party for Kids
I don’t even know how to begin explaining this party. It’s freaking incredible. Guest blogger, Sarah, did a complete DIY party for her son’s 5th birthday. Since then, she’s gathered every printable, tutorial and list of supplies imaginable and shared it on this blog. It’s literally a kids party how-to (with supplies) all in one post! […read more]
Symbols in your Facebook Status
Ever wonder how to make the “heart” symbol on Facebook or how people can create symbols to tell a story? We’ve wondered that, too. Don’t pretend like you don’t want to know…just a little bit at least. Well, here’s how […read more]
Just a Fart in the Wind
Mel just moved from the west coast to the east coast. She left a TON of friends. She’s one of THOSE people. You call her and want to have a get-together and she’s got an entire crew lined up to where you don’t have to do the work. Well, she’s finding that it’s much more difficult to make friends. Her stories are absolutely hilarious. This is the first of many. She went out with a bunch of girls and something completely embarrassing happened. […read more]

Coming up this week:
- Travel organization
- Packing List printable
- Something for you to take part in (that’s a little teaser)
- Baby Shower – A list of the “Must Gift” Items
- Folding tricks for your clothes (keep your closet and drawers organized)
…and a little bit of this and that peppered in. I know Mel has an update on what happened with the girls after their night out and has attempted to meet another couple. That, too, is quite a story.
